Honoring Mildred D. Higgins

The LASFAA Mildred D. Higgins High School Scholarship is named in honor of Ms. Mildred D. Higgins, a respected leader in financial aid and student advocacy. Ms. Higgins served Louisiana students, families, and colleagues for many years and was the Director of Financial Aid at Xavier University of Louisiana.

In recognition of her dedication and service, the LASFAA High School Scholarship was renamed the LASFAA Mildred D. Higgins High School Scholarship in 2010.

Scholarship Overview

Each year, LASFAA raises funds to honor Mildred D. Higgins' legacy by providing scholarship opportunities to Louisiana high school students pursuing higher education. Scholarship recipients and award amounts are determined in accordance with LASFAA scholarship procedures and available funding. Up to five students are selected annually to receive a one-time scholarship award of $400 each.

Application Information

Who Can Apply?

  • Graduate from a Louisiana high school.
  • Plan to enroll full-time at a LASFAA member college or university.
  • Submit the online scholarship application by June 30.

June 30 Application Deadline

Recipients will be notified by email after the scholarship selection process is complete.
